The hopes of MUFC fans went up as soon as the ball started rolling at Selhurst Park on Saturday, however this excitement did not last long after Crystal Palace nearly missed two chances at goal thanks to David De Gea and thanks to him indeed that the game ended at 0-0
Yesterday’s game was an eventful one, at least for Crystal Palace who were constantly attacking and creating in the second half, their defense wasn’t all that bad, but the box penetration was a bit too much which allowed more chances at goal than Manchester United deserved.
In fact, and Andy Townsend would agree with me on this, they were the better team yesterday and were clearly not happy with a point
As far as MUFC are concerned, they pretty much know how they played, sloppy defending in the first quarter led to almost two goals by the eagles along with zero finishing by them thanks to Rooney not being in form and Martial not playing in his preferred position. The same problems continued throughout the match though there was a noticeable change after Ashley Young was brought on. The midfield was good overall but no one was there to finish the chances they had created and by the time Martial had come to a more central position after Lingard was called on, it was too late.
So what now?
Well for Crystal, if they continue like this, perhaps a little more efficiency in defense, they would be climbing up the table soon enough.
For Manchester United, they need a change in attack. If they wish to win the title (or any title for that matter), they have to sort things out in the team. Wayne Rooney should be dropped and Martial should play his default role as a centralised striker, in fact Youngy or Memphis should play at the wing (preferably young.
If Manchester United want to win the Barclays Premier League, now is the time to move forward and do it, Arsenal and Manchester City are 4 points away but the next challenge they face is CSKA Moscow at home
