France are safely into the next round and can afford a loss, if that does happen and Switzerland win, it would still allow both teams to enter the knockout stage, but if France beat Switzerland and Romania beat Albania by two goals, then Romania would advance to the knockout stage.

  • Switzerland vs Romania (1-1): While Switzerland had already won their first game against Albania, the Romanians were hunting for one and it showed, they struck the goal in the 18th minute and were looking much more organised, calm and composed as compared to the first game, however, Switzerland did not give up and kept on pushing, that added to what seems like a motivational speech by the manager at Half Time completely turned the tables in the second half. After numerous waves of attacks, Mehmedi struck a beautiful goal from the edge of the box into the inner side netting which allowed Swiss to take a point from the game
  • France vs Albania (2-0) : I have said this several times over the past six days and I wont shy away from saying it again, this is a tournament of late goals and the hosts proved my point once again. What seemed like the first 0-0 draw of the tournament by the 80th minute, quickly changed to a 2-0 win for France, many still wonder how. We saw two changes in the French squad as Kingsley Coman and Anthony Martial were brought in instead of Paul Pogba and Antonie Griezzman. Both teams had their fair chances of scoring and credit given to Albania, who almost got the lead, but it remained 0-0 till Half Time, Anthony Martial was then brought off for Paul Pogba who made an impact but no goals were scored, soon enough, the trump card, Antonie Griezzman was brought on and it looked like a different team altogether. Griezzman got the first goal for the French thanks to Pogba’s ball in the 90th minute and it looked like the French had won it, Dimitri Payet sealed it up in injury time with his second goal in two games to allow the French to easily head to the Knockout stage

Group B

  • England
  • Wales
  • Slovakia
  • Russia

Wales need a win from today’s match to seal up a qualification to the next round, but if England take a win, then things would get interesting, while Wales would still be able to qualify after beating Russia (which seems highly likely), England would play Slovakia in a decider, a loss would mean a return ticket back to England but a win would grant them access to the knockout stage.

  • Russia vs Slovakia (1-2) : Both teams needed a win to head  into the Knockout stage, while Russia had an advantage of one point, they did not seem to care about it, the game was concentrated largely in the midfield but by spread out soon enough as the Slovakain’s got a goal in the 30th minute. The game seemed to die down from the Russian perspective but things were just getting started for the Slovakians as they scored right before the break to make it 2-0. Slovakia continued their waves of attacks on the Russians but nothing ended behind the net, if you’re an English fan, you would have enjoyed that. Russia put their foot on the gas pretty late on in the game as Glushakov hit the net in the 80th minute, but it just wasn’t enough to salvage a point and Slovakia now sit on top of group B.
  • Wales vs England : To be played on 16/6/16 at Stade Bollaert-Delelis
